Naropa Community Counseling Center (NCCC)

We partner with NCCC in our trainings and referrals.  In our initial phone screens and assessments with potential clients we try to find the best fit for a therapist.  Sometimes that is not us and in those cases we do look towards NCCC as a possible referral.  We also partner for some of our community and group trainings so that our teams can have more access to continued education.

Naropa Community Counseling integrates contemplative approaches with modern clinical practice to assist our clients in reaching their highest level of emotional and mental well-being. We provide cutting edge, transformative intervention across a broad range of therapeutic services. Naropa Community Counseling serves Boulder and Front Range residents with low to moderate income, with sliding scale services from $30–90. We also accept Medicaid.

Sandstone Care and Whole Connection support each other through referrals to different levels of care and also support each other's community trainings.  There are times that our level of care is not always enough for individuals, in those cases we look at Sandstone Care to see if they might be the right fit.  Both Sandstone and Whole Connection offer trainings to the communities, in these cases we help share these trainings their our networks in order to serve the larger community.

Sandstone Care has facilities in Denver and Boulder Colorado, and the Washington D.C. area. We provide a treatment program for young adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Sandstone Care offers a full continuum of outpatient care including Extended Care, Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient, and General Outpatient Programs for young adults (ages 18-30) and adolescents (ages 13-18).  We also offer transitional sober living for men in Denver, CO and for women in Boulder, CO.

Sandstone Care believes that successful outcomes are achieved through a systemic, evidence-based approach that addresses the entire individual as well as their environment – this means providing academic & vocational support to help individuals achieve their goals and discover their strengths, family participation to educate and support the entire family system, psychiatric and dietitian evaluations and support to promote a healthy mind and body, as well as community-based activities along with the more traditional evidence-based group and individual therapy.

Expand Mentoring and Whole Connection work together to offer team approaches with some of our clients.  We have found that a team approach can greatly help our clients towards their goals and help them feel more connected.  A lot of times there are tasks that either a mentor or therapist cannot always do or succeed on their own.  If you are interested in having a team approach ask Expand or Whole Connection how you can find a team to support you.

Expand, LLC offers mentoring/coaching services to those in need of support in their day to day life. They address communication, daily-living, and social needs while in the community with their clients where therapy alone may not fulfill each of these needs.  Expand help’s to ensure each client's success in navigating various social contexts, learning new skills and making functional progress.  They work with clients to develop lifestyle, organizational and social skills that prepare them for the world. Expand specializes in issues including addiction, mental health struggles, "failure to launch”, depression and anxiety, self-esteem, self harm, as well as difficulties with relationships, school and job performance.  Expand's mentoring service helps clients develop coping and life skills while putting these skills into practice — and then goes even further. They can help with practical tasks such as creating resumes, job hunting, meal planning, creating a workout regimen, or any area that clients find they may be stuck. About Queer Asterisk:

Queer Asterisk is a non-profit organization rooted in community and run by queer and transgender professionals. We exist to meet a growing need for exceptional mental health care to better serve queer and transgender children, adolescents, adults, and families. Since 2017, we have provided affordable counseling services, comprehensive educational trainings, and robust community programming to promote individual and collective healing and wellness among queer and trans people. We envision a vibrant community that embraces authentic expression, where individuals with dynamic and intersecting identities can thrive.

Counseling:  Queer Asterisk counselors are post-graduate and licensed mental health professionals from diverse backgrounds, all of whom identify as queer and transgender. We provide services in English, Spanish, French, and Danish. Our team provides individual, group, relationship and family counseling for children, adolescents, and adults. Our counselors specialize in gender-affirming treatment for a wide range of needs including body dysphoria, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, and addiction recovery. The approach that we take to our counseling services is relational and trauma-informed.

We offer free 20 minute phone consultations, a sliding scale, and we can work with most major insurance providers. We have offices in Boulder, Denver and Longmont, and we can provide TeleHealth to Colorado residents. Our licensed clinicians are also available to offer queer-informed supervision to counselors in private practice.

Programming:  Queer Asterisk offers regular groups and special events for the queer and transgender communities. From dance parties to thoughtful discussion groups, our programs create opportunities for queer and trans folks to gather in spaces that are inclusive and transformative. Our Peer Mentorship program is an affordable supplement or alternative to counseling services for children, adolescents and adults.

Education:  Our educators facilitate a rich learning experience for professionals who are invested in the physical and emotional wellbeing of queer and trans people. Many organizations recognize the need to better serve queer and transgender individuals and their families. Our trainings offer a framework for adapting inclusive policies and furthering a culture that is welcoming and healing for all. We also offer ongoing consultation services, partnering with organizations to integrate awareness and responsiveness into their operations.
