TRAUMA RECOVERY & CARE PROGRAM

The Effects of Trauma are Real. We’ll help you Recover

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) doesn’t just affect soldiers. All of us have a dark room filled with dragons. Trauma can make this room darker, and make the dragons scarier. Therapy is the process of giving yourself armor, turning on the light, and getting rid of the dragons.

Despite our best efforts, it’s impossible to avoid the dragon forever. Inevitably, things in our life reminds us of our dragon, and we come face to face with our fears. Seeing the dragon causes reactions like anxiety attacks, and each anxiety attack can make the dragon bigger.

During therapy, we’ll give you armor, and we’ll start confronting your dragon together. By understanding the dragon, we’ll take away its power. You’ll turn the scary dragon into a harmless lizard.

Book a call with us (or fill out the form below) to learn how to become a knight, defeat your dragon and get rid of your trauma.

We won’t fight the dragon on the first day. We won’t even enter the room. We’ll start by giving you some armor. There are ways to stop yourself from feeling overwhelmed, panicking, or getting stuck in fear. Simple techniques like grounding exercises, controlled breathing, or focusing on your senses can help you regain a sense of calm and safety – powerful armor that will help you face your fears. We’ll show you how to use these tools as armor so you can feel more in control during out fight with the dragon.

Once your armor is strong enough, we’ll start attacking the dragon. We’ll be quick, and cut off a toe before he even sees us. Every day, we’ll enter the room with the dragon, and slowly take away the dragons strength.

During this time, we’ll focus on the exercises we learned so that we can make sure your armor stays strong. The fire from the dragons mouth might damage your armor, but we’ll help you repair it, and build back stronger.

Over time, the dragon will gradually weaken until you can finally fight the dragon face to face. When you’re ready, you’ll storm into the room and defeat the dragon once and for all.

It sounds cliche, but by staring down your fears, you’ll take away the power they hold over you. Using desensitization therapy, you’ll work with a qualified clinician practicing EMDR 2.0 for 90 minutes each day. We’ll down your fears into manageable pieces and handle them one by one. If needed, we can also use Stellate Ganglion Block to provide additional relief from your PTSD symptoms.

We need to make sure the lizard doesn’t turn back into a dragon.

We keep the dragon away by making sure your armor stays strong. We’ll teach you how to inspect your armor by noticing how triggers affect your mood. If you have a small reaction to something that happened, then the dragon is starting to coming back. When triggers start creating small reactions, your armor needs a some strengthening . Don’t worry! You’ll have the tools (grounding or breathing exercises)you need to build your armor back up. You’ll defeat the dragon while it’s still harmless, and stay in control of your life.

The integration stage of trauma recovery is where you step into the person you’re becoming—stronger, more resilient, and ready to embrace life with confidence. By applying the skills you’ve learned, you’ll cultivate healthy routines, build meaningful relationships, and develop a deeper sense of self-worth. We guide you through this transformative phase, helping you solidify these changes so you can move forward as the best version of yourself.

FAQs

Medicaid covers ketamine therapy for qualifying candidates. However, most private insurance companies will not cover ketamine therapy.

In order to make Ketamine more accessible and to provide a community process, Whole Connection offers Ketamine Dosages in groups. These groups tend to be small, 3-5 people, and create a space for mutual experiences, while also having your own individual one. While being part of a group Ketamine dosing session, there will be a trained Integration therapist present to hold space, as well as our licensed physician. By doing so this provides a holding container for each individual.Even with this, we still have space for clients to be in their own individual space after the Ketamine process. Although the dosage is in a group experience, the integration is still individualized and provided the very next day.

Although you can have the Ketamine dosage without a follow up of integration with a therapist, we believe that by having the integration more of the experience can be understood and lead to growth. The Ketamine dosage experience is an internal experience, but also can feel disconnecting, and much like important moments in our lives, we believe that by having an ability to process the difficulties, new knowledge, and worries, can create for greater shifts in the directions we are hoping for.We believe in the integration so much, that it is part of our program, not an add-on. We also make sure that the therapist you will integrate with has been trained in Ketamine integration.

There are certain conditions that exclude some individuals from ketamine therapy:

  • Pregnancy
  • Uncontrolled or untreated hypertension
  • Severe cardiac disease
  • Liver or kidney failure

EMDR 2.0 is a form of therapy that evolved from EMDR 1.0. but is quite distinct in its approach. The process of EMDR 2.0 is to disrupt traumatic memories by asking you to do simultaneous activities, such as singing, counting, spelling, or performing another task while recounting the challenging memories.

By taxing the working memory, you will be unable to recall all the disturbing details: memories feel more distance, less bright or intense, and will be stored away into your long-term memory in a different manner.
