Sam Meyer

Intern, Clinical Therapist
(he/him)

Hello! My name is Sam (he/him), and I’m completing my master’s degree in clinical social work (MSW) at the Smith College School for Social Work. I approach therapy with deep respect for each person’s inherent dignity and worth, valuing who you are in this moment. Our work together will focus on fostering self-compassion, building self-worth, and addressing barriers that stand in the way.

I see therapy as a collaborative process—you are the expert on your own life. To honor each client’s unique needs, I draw from psychodynamic, relational, narrative, contemplative, and mindfulness-based approaches to create a process that feels accessible and meaningful. I also take a systems perspective, using a social justice lens to explore how external structures impact mental health, while advocating for client needs and connecting them to helpful resources.

Our many intersecting identities shape how we experience the world, and I welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds, and ages. As a gay/queer clinician, I’m especially passionate about supporting people exploring gender, sexuality, and identity. Additionally, before training as a therapist, I studied music at the Berklee College of Music and worked as a professional musician for nearly a decade — this background gives me a deep appreciation for working with creatives navigating their process, careers, and well-being.

Originally from Central NY, I’ve lived in cities on both coasts and in France, and now call Denver home. I offer individual therapy in the Boulder and Denver offices, as well as virtual sessions. Outside of work, I love singing, cooking, quality time with friends, and adventures with my husband and our dog, Bagel.

Regardless of whether we work together, I wish you the best on your path toward a meaningful, authentic life.
