“When one is pretending, the entire body revolts.”

  • Anaïs Nin

Hello there, My name is Roya.

Thank you for being here.

I am a Master’s student in my third year studying somatic, body-based therapy. As a human who has always tried to fit in to the bubbles of her surroundings, I have found it to be true that my body is incapable of lying, and it will speak it’s truth whether I like it or not. I was drawn to movement practices since I was a young teen, as these allowed me to intensify what felt simple: the sensations in my body.

Movement, and eventually other practices such as breathwork and meditation became an outlet that consistently saved me from getting lost in the swirly stories of my mind. I came to a point where they led me to explore the underlying process as to why these practices brought me so much relief and clarity— and that curiosity brought me here.

I was led to my study in Somatics after some years teaching yoga and witnessing the subtlety of how our experience and thoughts are all tied to the sensations in our body— raw, before we attach our stories to them or categorize them as emotions. Our stories matter deeply. And I believe there is an ocean of richness to ourselves to explore underneath the words we say out loud.

In session, our words are steadily met with gentle check-ins—noticing what is being stirred right now—in this moment.  And that is where we move from. I see my role as a co-traveler alongside you, meeting you exactly where you are today. Through deep listening, attunement, and a commitment to curiosity, the heart of what we do together is mindfully opening up to experience so we can meet ourselves more fully & honestly. You always have the wheel.
